History of the Cedar County Attorney's Office In Cedar County, the County Attorney position is considered a part-time position. The main duties of the County Attorney are to prosecute crimes committed against the State of Nebraska in Cedar County, and to represent the County Board in civil proceedings. A popular misconception about County Attorneys is that "they are there to give legal advice to the citizens of their county." Not true. The County Attorney does not act in a private practice attorney capacity. He does not represent the citizens of Cedar County in civil proceedings, and does not give free legal advice.
